What is osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a bone condition characterized by a decrease in bone mineral density and bone mass, leading to weakened bones that are more susceptible to fractures. The term “osteoporosis” literally means “porous bone,” reflecting the condition’s impact on bone structure and strength. It is often referred to as a “silent disease” because individuals may not experience symptoms until a fracture occurs.
The most commonly affected bones include: hips, wrists, spine, metatarsal bones (head of the feet), elbows.
Causes and Risk Factors
Osteoporosis can develop due to various factors, including:
- Age: Bone density naturally decreases with age, particularly in postmenopausal women due to hormonal changes.
- Nutrition: Insufficient intake of calcium and vitamin D can contribute to bone loss.
- Lifestyle: Lack of physical activity, smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption are significant risk factors.
- Medical Conditions: Certain diseases and medications can also increase the risk of developing osteoporosis.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis typically involves a DXA (DEXA) scan, which measures bone mineral density. The results are compared to those of a healthy young adult to determine if an individual has normal bone density, osteopenia, or osteoporosis
Osteopenia is characterized by lower-than-normal bone mineral density (BMD), while osteoporosis represents a more significant and advanced decline in BMD, making bones weak and brittle.
- Osteopenia: A T-score between -1 and -2.5 indicates osteopenia.
- Osteoporosis: A T-score of -2.5 or lower is diagnostic of osteoporosis.
- Progression:Osteopenia is often the stage before osteoporosis, and if left untreated, osteopenia can progress to osteoporosis.
- Fracture Risk:Individuals with osteoporosis have a significantly higher risk of fractures compared to those with osteopenia, as their bones are weaker and more fragile.
Osteoporosis: Treatment and Management with Yumeiho Therapy

Managing osteoporosis is always a complex issue, in the conservative way is tackeld by medication and lifestyle changes with vitamins, supplements and a good variety of exercises. There is however the possibility to reverse or stabilize this condition with a comprehensive approach of looking into the root cause, gut healing for better absorbtion of vitamins, individually targeted exercises ( weight bearing,muscle-strenghtening, balance, streching, posture correction and flexibility) and Yumeiho therapy.
Why Yumeiho Therapy?
This special treatment is designed to support people with osteopenia and osteoporosis to maintain and restore their bone health with focus on the osteoblast process– new bone formation; it will also help in the better absorption of Ca, vit D and other supplements by releasing muscle tensions and promoting seamless blood flow in the entire body.
For a seamless osteoblast process there is a need for tree components:
- Mesenchymal stem cells (osteoblast precursor)
- Blood vessels that supply oxygen and nutrients
- Diet (D vit, K vit, collagen, high calcium foods, vegetables)
Yumeiho therapy can directly help the osteoblast process by stimulating the muscles and the blood vessels within to get sufficient oxygen and to be able to absorb all the vitamins and nutrients needed to restore bone health.
Benefits of Yumeiho therapy in osteopenia and osteoporosis:
- Posture Correction – Osteoporosis often leads to kyphosis (hunched back) and spinal misalignment. Yumeiho therapy helps restore better posture, reducing strain on weakened bones.
- Pain Relief – Gentle massage and joint mobilization may help alleviate back, hip, and joint pain associated with osteoporosis.
- Improved Blood Circulation – Enhanced circulation may promote better nutrient delivery to bones, supporting bone health.
- Muscle Strengthening – While not a replacement for weight-bearing exercise, Yumeiho may help maintain muscle tone, which provides support to fragile bones.
- Stress Reduction – Relaxation effects can help manage chronic pain and tension associated with osteoporosis.
This is a gentle type of Yumeiho massage in cloth, with individual plan tailored to tackle the areas where the bone density needs to be strenghtened.
Hips, arms, legs and the entire spine will benefit from it and get stronger and pain free after a few sessions already.
It requires a longer-term commitment along with regular exercise of high intensity and high strength, but it will improve life quality and can prevent more bone loss if done with discipline and regularity.
